Spotted this on Mark McGuigan's site: The Bombastic Meatbats featuring Chad Smith will release their long-awaited new album More Meat on October 19th. The Meatbats feature Jeff Kollman on guitar, Ed Roth on keys, Kevin Chown on bass, and (of course) Chad Smith on drums. I'm super stoked for this release - I've seen the Meatbats twice, and really dug their debut Meet The Meatbats. If you're into funky throwback jazz fusion, this is the band for you. Upcoming Ranjit Barot Album to include John McLaughlin, Wayne Krantz, Matthias Eklundh, and others

Indian drummer Ranjit Barot has a new album entitled Bada Boom coming November 16th on the Abstract Logix Label. Special guests on the disc include guitarists John McLaughlin, Wayne Krantz, Matthias Eklundh, and Amit Heri, bassist Matt Garrison, and keyboardist Scott Kinsey. Barot (who has appeared on many recordings including McLaughlin's Floating Point) is a fantastic drummer who mixes Indian and Western styles.
