Greg Howe to record "Gentle Hearts" follow up with Tetsuo Sakurai and Dennis Chambers

Lots of Greg Howe news lately! Howe has announced he'll be recording a new album in June with bassist Tetsuo Sakurai and drummer Dennis Chambers. This will be a follow-up to the trio's amazing 2001 release Gentle Hearts. A Gentle Hearts Live album and DVD (review) were also released in 2005. Look for the new album sometime later this year.

Bombastic Meatbats added to the Baked Potato 40th Anniversary Jazz Fest

NEWS FLASH: Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats (which features Jeff Kollman on guitar) have been added to the Baked Potato's 40th Anniversary Jazz Festival! The band is scheduled to perform on May 22nd - day one of the fest. I'll be there for both days. Can't wait!

Greg Howe to perform in Russia with Marco Minnemann and Bryan Beller

On September 24th & 25th, Greg Howe will be performing at the Primorye Regional Philharmonic Hall in Vladivostok, Russia with drummer Marco Minnemann and Bassist Bryan Beller. The setlist will consist of a few of each player's tunes.

Minnemann has played with both Howe (in Eddie Jobson's U-Z Project) and Beller (in KMB with Mike Keneally), but all three players have never performed together as far as I know. These should be some cool gigs!

Jimmy Herring to tour with Lenny White

Guitarist Jimmy Herring will join legendary drummer Lenny White's band for a string of US live dates beginning August 11th. Exact dates and venues have not been published, but the scheduled cities include Washington DC, New York, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Cruz and Seattle. I'll post more details as they become available. Herring appears on White's great new fusion disc Anomaly. 

Herring will also tour the Northeast with his own band this November, with some possible double-bills with John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension (!).

Michael Landau and Johnny Hiland will both be performing at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, NC on September 25th in association with the Southeastern Guitar and Amp Show. Hiland will also be performing on the 24th with Unknown Hinson. The Southeastern Guitar and Amp Show (Hosted by Mojo Musical Supply) will be held in the Raleigh Convention Center September 25th and 26th.
