This old gem just popped up on YouTube. This is Soft Machine from 1975 with Allan Holdsworth on guitar. In my opinion, Holdsworth's work with this band represents the pinnacle of his 1970s output (I know, I know...the Tony Williams stuff was awesome too). This song is called "Bundles." Dig it...
Small world... I dropped in here from BlogExplosion, and while I'm not really familiar with Allan Holdsworth's music, I lived next door to him when I was a kid in the early 1980s. My mom and his wife talked a lot, and his daughter played with my younger brother. I remember visiting them once after they bought a house, and seeing how he'd converted one room (probably the garage) into a studio. I think it was the first time I'd seen soundproofing.

Whoa!!!
I saw him in '76 with Ponty-- Enigmatic Ocean tour.
Steurmer was the main guitarist. AH basically hid back in the corner. I thought his solos were the synth player. AH was just killin' on an SG, no less!
