Litchfield, CT--March 27, 2008 – The National Guitar Workshop is excited to announce the curriculum and guest artists for the 2008 season. This year’s program will feature Paul Gilbert, Lisa Loeb, The John Scofield Trio featuring Bill Stewart and Steve Swallow, Kenny Burrell, Michael Angelo Batio, Jennifer Batten, Eric Krasno, Laurence Juber, Sonny Landreth, and more. NGW features 8 locations nation-wide with campuses in
Connecticut, Nashville, Austin, Washington DC, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco
and Los Angeles. Each location offers a wide variety of courses, all taught by
world renowned musicians.
In association with Performing Songwriter Magazine, NGW is
proud to present the Songwriting Summit featuring Lisa Loeb. In addition, the
workshop is offering a seminar on Roots Rock featuring David Grissom, and a
Flatpicking Seminar with Grammy-Nominated artist Russ Barenberg.
Events are happening across the country for rock players.
The Connecticut campus will hold two Rock Summits featuring Paul Gilbert and
Vernon Reid, while the LA Rock Summit will include a clinic by Michael Angelo
Batio. Former Michael Jackson guitarist Jennifer Batten will appear in Seattle
and Southern-Rock Guitarist Audley Freed will take the stage at the Washington
DC campus.
Taking place in Austin, Chicago, and Connecticut are three
Blues Summits, which will include appearances by some of the most influential
bluest guitarists in the world. NGW is pleased to have Sonny Landreth making a
rare clinic appearance in Chicago. Duke Robillard will be giving a clinic on
his jump blues style in Austin, and the Connecticut campus will feature the
legendary blues guitarists Bob Margolin and Hubert Sumlin.
The National Guitar Workshop is very excited to present The
John Scofield Trio featuring Steve Swallow and Bill Stewart at the Jazz Summit
in Connecticut. This will be a rare chance to be a part of an intimate
workshop with one of the most respected groups in modern jazz. A great
addition to the Los Angeles campus will be the appearance of one of the fathers
of modern jazz guitar, Kenny Burrell, who will be a featured guest in the
Giants of Jazz guitar seminar.
Our curriculum has also expanded to also include classes on Pro Tools, Garageband, and developing a Home Studio. These music technology classes are powered by Apple®.
